Metanetworks Inc. is a recent research and consulting spinoff of the Computer Science Laboratory of SRI International . We are dedicated to the advancement of science and technology and we are now being funded by both industry and Government to improve the current state of the art in networking technology. Metanetworks Inc. was founded by Livio Ricciulli in November 1999 as a research and consulting firm dedicated to the advancement of science and technology.

One of our current projects focuses on providing innovative system and network management solutions for the adaptable networks of the future. In collaboration with ISI, we built the Active Networks Backbone (ABONE) and are now in the process of formulating its network management architecture. The system management software that has enabled the creation of  the  ABONE  (Anetd) was derived from the ANCORS project and later transitioned to the ACTIVATE project (both initially led by Livio Ricciulli).

ANCORS has also demonstrated how high-fidelity network simulation can be an effective and powerful tool in designing, prototyping, and evaluating new network and black big cocks services and protocols through the network management infrastructure.
